For about the price of a blank USB stick, half the work is done for you.

I've been a Linux fan for decades but haven't tried newer distros. I stumbled across a Mint flash drive and decided to give it a try for $15. Wow.Mint is a very good distro and has a lot of support online. Most people looking to learn more about Linux or migrate from an older version of Windows would do well to try Mint, and I can't think of an easier way. highly recommended.

Pros
  • Robust interface

Great product with excellent customer service.

Total Linux newbie, was able to sneak into this drive and within 20+/- minutes, Walla, the Linux environment is up and running. a bug, and the people supporting this product have been in a hurry with suggestions, fixes, and, well, great support. I highly recommend this CD if you want to switch from Windows to Linux.

  • Worth the money

Not as good as Windows

I found that the drivers used seem over engineered and never work properly. For example, printers and scanners stop in the middle of a job and do not restart for no apparent reason. The icons etc are comparable to the icons on Windows XP, it's like stepping back in time and taking me back to a computing experience I'd rather forget. That aside it's an interesting technology and I'll keep trying it and see if there are any updates etc to get my printer/scanner working properly.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • For retirees

Difficult to install, but I actually did it!

You have to press "Escape" as soon as you turn on any of the computers. You will then get into the BIOS with F10 or whatever you need to press. Then disable "secure boot" and enable "legacy support". Change your boot options to make USB/DVD the primary boot to read this flash drive. I downloaded Linux! OMG It works very well! I saved up a 5 year old HP laptop for only $19. It's cheaper than buying a new HP laptop for $500! I want to get rid of Microsoft Windows. Any Linux is the way! I…

Total waste. total deception. That does not work.

The "How To" part of this description is a line in the little booklet that comes with the flash drive that takes you to the Linux developer site. Everything is fine with the USB drive itself. I'm sure it will work for saving cat pictures if you remove everything from it. However, this is NOT a bootable USB stick. It appears to have mint files on disk, but in a subfolder. As a Linux newbie, I can't say for sure that the files on the flash drive are actually Linux Mint Cinnamon files. Waste of…
