Definitely not for class - waste of money

Bought this to help my grandson who is in 3rd grade math. He's already at the level of borrowing and transferring big numbers, so he definitely knows how to solve simple equations like 3 + 4 = 7. However, this game only gives them about 5 seconds to answer a question - he doesn't even have enough time there to understand what the problem is (add or subtract) and give an answer. (There are three squares, and random squares are filled each time, so you have to decide if you need to add or…

Unlimited time mode is NOT what you think and mostly useless

So this is advertised as you can turn off time mode. But this is an illusion. As another reviewer said, it just means that a kid can do as many math problems as they want. The normal setting has a 60 second timer, allowing the child to complete as many tasks as possible in 60 seconds. This is a timer that can be turned off! But every single problem still gives a very short time to reply before they provide an answer for you. So if you have a kid who has been stressed out about math for a while,

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • No instructions

. . We work with triangle flashcards and found this article to be a great self-study tool. Not so. For one simple reason: you can turn off the sync feature, but you can do as many tasks as you want, not just limited to the amount you can do in 60 seconds. It does NOT store each problem on the device for a long period of time, allowing math beginners to think about the family of facts and find the correct missing digit. It only works in FLASH mode ---- Expect quick answers and don't think twice.

Pros
  • . Great for me.
Cons
  • . Volume

Teaching Facts About Families

Instead of learning math facts with practice cards, this is another method to teach the facts about "families". Every child learns differently. This concept of teaching children to look at the fact as a whole and not just the quantity is better for some children. It's not a "toy" but kids have fun with it. My daughter carried it back and forth in her backpack. He is durable. The sound can be turned on or off. (I love this feature.) I also love the different levels it offers. It gave my daughter
