The rudeness comes. in Aquarium Pumps and Filters

Bought for a small fish tank with betta fish. Don't worry if you don't know you need to replace the charcoal and cotton wool. No rinsing and running does not help. The charcoal keeps dissolving, coating everything and making the water very cloudy. The rest posted pictures. Mechanically it seems to work fine.

Works well with some minor modifications

I can see that some will be disappointed with the quality of this product. This is a lighter plastic than most small aquarium filters. Swap out the included carbon for a better one and use a good air pump (I use one of the smaller piezos) and it should keep your tank clean. My Betta is enjoying his updated home.

  • Great for a small home

I should have looked more closely.

No hoses or pump included and it's my fault for not taking a closer look although I see no mention of it. If I buy a hose and pump, I'll spend as much money installing a filter as if I bought it with everything. A large number of people report that dirty water from the carbon filter is thrown away, which is a waste and not worth the cheap price.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Works great, poor quality charcoal and cotton

loose change works great but I did what other posters suggested and bought better quality charcoal. I think there should be more cotton on the bottom, they sent a little pinch. I will replace this with more when I drain the tank. I have this in my 2.5 gallon tank with rocks about 2 inches thick. That works great. My husband unknowingly bought me a tiger mullet after I sent him for a pair of zebrafish but the baby seems to be doing fine!

  • Great for me

Difference Between 1 and 2 Gallon Filters

I have not yet installed or used this filter but have ordered 1 and 2 gallon filters to see the difference. 1 gallon equals 4 inches in diameter. 2 gallons are 5.25 inches in diameter. The actual filter size is the same on both, leading me to believe there is no difference between them? The hose is 2 gallons longer. and the base is wider, but other than that it's exactly the same as a girl's. The wider base is of no use either, since it is only made of plastic.

Great for my betta tanks

Glad to find these little gravel filters as well as replacement cartridges. I have 3 gallon bettas with filters that draw too much current for large finned bettas. Undergravel filters do a very good job of keeping tanks clean. I would give them 5 stars but I didn't like the little plastic plant. I took them off and replaced them. Note: These filters require the use of a pump and hose. I use splitters and regulators to control the airflow to each tank. I will be buying more of these filters as I

Cheap, does the job, but carbon leaches over time.

I can't cope with some people. Have you ever considered FLUSHING your carbon head before installing it? Serious? That's why my father told me that half of the people are below average. Rinse the cartridge under the tap for a bit and you have a fantastic in-ground filter for the money. What I said, just rinse it out. It washes off well, but over time it discolors the water a bit. I simply emptied the cartridge and filled it with high-quality charcoal. That negates the cheap factor, but not quite

Unique and super functional.

I live under gravel pack and this was just what I needed for my 3.5 gallon betta aquarium. (It might be a bit small for my aquarium, but I've never seen a larger version of this design). The filtration that came with the tank covered most of the tank and this system allows me to see everything. As others have said: the plastic decor is too harsh for fish with thin fins, and you'll need replacement filter media (I use a combination of activated carbon and zeolite to prevent ammonia bursts that…

DO NOT YOU UNDERSTAND! SAVE YOUR FISH!

DON'T UNDERSTAND! I was told to try it and I decided to get it. Do a typical filter prep and rinse the actual filter/charcoal part with water and make sure it has been clean for a good 3 minutes before using it. I put it in my aquarium, filled it with aquarium water and all the minerals, tested the water and everything was perfect! I started the filter and immediately small black flakes fell from above! So I repeated the whole process a second time. Looked good! Until I put my fish, snails and…
