🔌 Legrand On-Q 36456902V1 Duplex Outlet Kit with Surge Protection Review

This is a great product. It was installed on the side of the Legrand onQ cable outlet. It was a reconstruction of an existing wall. Once installed on the socket, it was very difficult to insert the assembly into the hole without cutting the hole and covering the hole with a decorative panel.

While I despise proprietary systems that force you to use their overpriced add-ons, this worked great in their proprietary media case and was a good solution for my needs. They could have made it a standard box, but the need for a surge protector outweighed the added cost.

This is a good product but if I spend more money to buy a product made specifically for my other product I expect it to fit like a glove. The screws attaching the electro box to the case didn't match, I had to use self tapping screws which prevented the electro plate from sitting flush with the case. I'll look for pan head screws so hopefully the rosette will sit flush on the exit cap.

As already mentioned, the supplied screws do not work. I bought this piece specifically for my case, thinking it would offer the best fit and functionality. Like others I've found that the screws that come with the kit are useless and the holes for the back box slightly/almost match the holes on the bottom of the case then the screws don't match. I had to go to the hardware store for self-tapping screws. I hope the socket works better than the installation.

These sockets fit a little on the case but they don't mate very well and I had to buy/use self tapping screws to install them properly. I also wish the box was a bit deeper as these sockets take up a lot of space and don't leave much room for wiring underneath. I chose Legrand because the local Menards sell that brand. If I wanted to upgrade or fix something I could just go over there and get it, but if I had to do it all over again I would go with Leviton as they have never let me down. .

I've read a lot of reviews and I skip a lot because only angry people write. But I have to tell you that this combination is dangerous! I've included pictures of what happened just before I fixed this wall with drywall. Combine a small metal box with a socket this size and you're asking for trouble.
