I bought this flashlight because of the spotlight function and that is the main setting I use. If there's some spread in this mode, it works well enough to see at least half an acre from my house and out to the edge of the forest the farther you try to see. I was able to identify deer, coyotes, and raccoons bothering my dogs at night. I highly recommend it.

An excellent everyday flashlight. I've had some of the most expensive tactical flashlights out there and these Chinese flashlights do it just as well. Now I'd rather pay $6 for a flashlight and maybe a lemon at the end because there is no quality assurance in China than $75 for a branded "tactical" flashlight that works the same way. Heck, for $75 I can get 12 of these made in Asia.

I like the small size and scalability of the light. I'll keep one in my car's glove box and use it on my evening walks. It's brighter than most of my big flashlights! Was surprised the clip broke when I tried to use it - right out of the box. It just crashed right away. This is not a deal breaker and I will keep it - just wanted to share my experience. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to using it.

These flashlights are incredibly bright. The lumen ratings for AA alkaline seem to be accurate. This light is much brighter than the old non-LED 2D and 2C flashlights. It's also about as bright as my AAA 3 LED flashlight. The beam focusing mechanism is very important for these small flashlights, otherwise you will get a very narrow beam of light. Looking for a few cheap flashlights just in case - it's always good to have a few on hand. The unit is good, much brighter than I expected, the narrow/wide beam slider setting works fine - my wife likes it best. I'm giving 4 stars for value, but it's important to note that the flashlight is a bit short if you have big hands like me, and as such the thumb control of the power button can be clunky. I bought one of these about 5 years ago. Then, about 3 years ago, I got the same duel set from "Secret Santa" as a present. Still light the way I have just repurchased this identical 2 pack for other spots in the house. A feature I really like. I love these little LED flashlights with their super bright Cree bulbs. They run on either a rechargeable 14500 AA 3.7V battery or a standard AA 1.5V alkaline battery. This allows you to use the rechargeable battery for normal use, but if you take it anywhere without a charger, you can always use a standard AA battery. . .
