Offers protection from electrical fires and shocks in one device. Interrupts power if a potentially dangerous arc-fault or ground fault is detected. Periodically conducts an automatic internal test to confirm that GFCI protected power is available. Patented lockout action prevents reset if damaged and cannot respond to an arc-fault or ground fault. Replaces a standard receptacle and has test and reset buttons on face for localized testing and resetting. Can be used to meet code requirements for AFCI and GFCI protection in residential kitchens and laundry areas.

The Leviton socket is defective from the factory.

I installed this Leviton tamper resistant AFCI/GFCI receptacle exactly as directed. When I turned the switch back on there was a spark at the breaker and it worked immediately. I checked the wiring, everything was fine, so I tried again, with the same spark as the switch. Now I was scared, so I called an electrician. I thought there might be a short behind the wall box where I couldn't see. He checked my wiring, agreed it was fine, so removed the outlet and when I reset the switch everythingโ€ฆ

Excellent quality, reliability, maximum electrical safety

Excellent quality product with the highest possible safety. My AC blower unit has an internal transformer that shorted out, causing severe arcing and burning out the wiring in the junction box. Since my subpanel doesn't have compatible arc breakers, I installed this Leviton jack in a junction box that has an AC fan connected to it to provide arc protection. This means that should the forced air blower fail again, this AFCI socket should fire and protect against arc flash and fire hazardsโ€ฆ

This outlet just saved my kitchen.

I bought this over a year ago (December 2017) and installed it as the first outlet for my kitchen circuit. This morning a very old garbage chute (circa 1980's I guess?) had water leaking into the power connector. He pulled the plug from the outlet, which caused the entire kitchen to go out. At the time I had no idea what was causing it, and after a few factory resets I kept hearing a humming sound of a short circuit. My girlfriend noticed a spark under the kitchen sink the last time I put herโ€ฆ
