Works better than expected

I was a little afraid to buy this card reader as some of the bad reviews were talking about it. But I got it anyway and it works great. I have Windows XP and didn't need to install a driver. Photos download very quickly. I wanted a card reader because I was tired of connecting the camera (Canon S230 Elph) to my computer. I recommend, at least for XP.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Slightly torn

perfect (and purple)

I bought this a few years ago because I was tired of connecting my camera to a computer that required battery power and I was tired of my mum's card reader to use photo printer by -for the inconvenience of not having it on my own computer. It worked fine on Windows 2000 and works fine on Windows XP. I have absolutely no problems with it and it does exactly what it is supposed to. It reads images quickly and is easy to use. The USB cable is the perfect length and fits comfortably anywhere on my…

Worked for a while

When I first got the card reader it worked great, took it on vacation everything was fine. Taking it to work I plugged it in and it got hot! Thank God I haven't inserted the card yet! A terrible smell of burning emanated from him. I would suggest spending a little more money for something more reliable.

No problems with Windows

I bought a Lexar Compact Flash Reader based on my experience with its SmartMedia Twin and was not disappointed. Connected to Windows ME and W2000 computers, it was quick to set up and up and running in less than a minute. One caveat: if you're using Windows ME, make sure you have all the latest updates installed. An early version of Windows ME had a fatal bug that caused problems reading attached USB drives or other storage devices.

Pros
  • Same as everything before
Cons
  • Only available in white

Will not work with computer accessories and peripherals

This product was purchased for less than $5 from B&H. Tried on 3 computers, two with XP and one with Win 2000. None of them worked. Given what I paid for it, it's not worth the hassle of a refund. I will buy a better product to replace it.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Expensive

it works well: memory card accessory

I'm surprised this made every computer crash. It works great for me and seems like a pretty innocent peripheral. Mine connected and played as advertised and had no problems with it. It's a cute purple color and it's also transparent. It works fine most of the time, it's very cheap, and at least if you have Windows XP you can just plug it into a USB port and in my experience it works fine.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product
