It's not easy to start running.

I am using my coreelec potato as a media player and there is a step by step guide to get it working but it is taking longer than necessary. Now that it's up and running, the loading times have speeded up a bit.

Pros
  • Rugged design
Cons
  • Disappear

Flashing process unreliable on AML-S905X-CC (Le Potato)

Flashing process on Le Potato is terrible and unreliable at best. The card does NOT use a standard connector, so none of the usual tools, adapters, etc. will work and cannot be used on other devices. Since Le Potato's boot order is loaded into emmc before the SD card, it may never work. The tools provided often crash or freeze, so the flash process may have to be repeated many times before it succeeds.

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Almost never

Much faster than SD card!

Installed on Libre Renegade 4G. This is not a Renegade made module as shown in my photo, there is no mounting screw hole. As long as you don't hit it it should be fine, the eMMC connector is pretty solid. I'll probably add some silicone thermal pads to attach it to the aluminum case below.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • I'll write later

Works Internal Solid State Drives

Range of functions. The process of flashing EMMC is complicated for most operating systems. I don't recommend it for occasional users.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Safety

Worked with some research.

Deserved! Probably not for those unfamiliar with single board computers. First, a dummy operating system will boot on the board. I had to boot lePotato Ubuntu from the SD card and hot-plug the emmc into the board. Then from Ubuntu terminal I ran lc_redetect_emmc and lc_distro_transfer. I followed the instructions on the manufacturer's website.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Sad packaging

Make sure you have the correct

Make sure you get the correct emmc module. I have an H3, I bought it not knowing that I need a x 4 module, it's an X5. And of course you can't find the right module anywhere on this page.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Very expensive

It works. Installation and setup can be easier.

Installation and setup could be easier. Software support is rather haphazard. They don't provide a way to put the included operating system (Android version) back onto the module after replacing it with something else. You can't just plug it into your computer and flash it. Adding a microUSB connector and the hardware required to do so would make it MUCH EASIER and more flexible to use. Or even making a separate USB adapter that you could plug it into for flashing would be way better than the…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors

How-to's are scattered all over the internet on various forums and sites. As with AML-s905x-cc, the emmc module can only be used on three custom distributions that do not include RetroPie. By the way, RetroPie is broken very badly and it takes about two days to fix it. The emmc module is only slightly (if at all) faster than the microSD card, probably due to bottlenecks. The distribution image was transferred at a maximum speed of 16.2 MB/s. If that's a really good measure of the speed of the…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
