Well made product, very accurate compared to the cheaper unit I have, much more stable than the cheaper units I have used.

I had cut down some trees in my garden and thought I could use them in some of my woodworking projects. This little reader is perfect for what I need it for.

This unit is poorly designed with the circuit board slipping out of the case when changing the battery. It needs to be reinstalled very carefully, making sure the tiny wire spring is under the plastic tab or the device will not work. The device does not provide instructions for this procedure.

This meter works as advertised. The pins are easy to insert into the wood and replace the pins with the longer pins that come with the kit. Reading is bright and clear. The instructions are simple but complete. Build quality is solid, although I'm not going into the wild with this device. I've had 2 cheap ones (one port freight, one from ebay) and had to heed the old adage - you get what you pay for. The HF unit was outdated and the ebay unit stopped working after a few months. I have been using a Delmhorst J-LITE 6-30% contact LED wood moisture meter for a while and am generally happy with it. The case is large enough to be carried around and it's frustrating that the percentage is displayed in less than a second as the only way I know of to document the reading is by taking a photo of the meter in action . I bought this counter for two reasons: to test wood before burning and to test wood for my furniture making hobby. In one it is excellent and in another it seems useless. When testing wood for furniture or other valuable wood products, this little gauge shines. It seems very precise, well built and very sturdy.
