(Cool Lights) - Camera & Photo

Good lighting for the price! Of the minuses - the light bulbs stick out above the lantern. This mainly concerns folding doors for storage. There is a good switch on the cables but they are too short. Bought extensions for them. The barn doors don't turn. The lamps have a slightly cold color temperature. wise. 6500K instead of 5500K (normal daylight). But like I said, good flashlights for the price.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Anything I can add

Very solid lights at a great price

I only got this pair of barn door photo lights a week ago so I don't have much experience with them yet but am very impressed with the stand and solid construction (the can reach over 8 feet). A pair of "interesting" LED bulbs with a fairly high (daylight) color temperature were included. I can replace these pears with others of a lower color value. Barn doors work very well: not too tight and not too loose. Overall I am very happy with these lamps.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Hard to say

Superb budget set studio lighting

Excellent lighting for the price. I like that they are LED so they don't get hot and I like that they are easy to set up and use. They're bright, maybe too bright. I've found that the light reflects better off sheets or the ceiling, but this is a very good portable light source. When not being used as a light source, they also look pretty cool as studio props placed next to film canisters and old cameras or clapboards. I love these lights and am glad to have them in my kit.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Obsolete

Useful room lamp, but.

Very light, semi-sticky. Far from studio quality, but it was obvious. The included lightbulb protrudes from the case, so I found a matching LED lightbulb at Home Depot that fits perfectly and doesn't get hot. I also added a dimmer. Barn doors are useful, as is this lamp. The biggest downside is the short power cord, which is 72 inches from the lamp body to the tips of the pins. This means that the telescoping stand takes up most if not all of the cable. You will need an extension cord if you…

Good Cheep Directional Lights

I use them to light green screens and actors for YouTube VFX shorts. I also use a few softboxes. They're good bang for the buck, but they're cheap. Lightweight metal cases but typical cheap racks. It is not brightness that glows there, but work. Very short power cord and they are not dimmable. Tried to use a dimmable extension cord didn't help. The barn doors are metallic and smooth, not that odd dimpled finish found on some other models that can create odd reflections. Not bad in general…

Great pair of studio LEDs!

I bought these LED lights for my red carpet because of the great price, the look and the work I needed (barn doors for a studio look). Don't be fooled, there is no such thing as brightness. A 40 watt incandescent bulb is sufficient, but I replaced mine with a pair of 60 watt LED bulbs. As a lighting professional, I highly recommend this wonderful pair of LEDs if you are on a budget and using them for quick photo or video shoots where lighting is required. They are comparable to more expensive…

Ideal for events such as wedding receptions in low light.

I was so surprised at how well the light works. I haven't even used them to set up a studio. That's right, the first launch was a live event in a big fancy ballroom for the wedding. I shoot weddings and as a cameraman we don't have the luxury of flash like photographers (I love you photographers) but it was really nice to have great constant lighting that I could control without dazzling the guests. love it love it love it If you can't afford ditto light (currently I can't), this is a good…

Just note that these aren't bright bulbs

For the amount of light they put out, they're cute little bulbs. These are not studio lights although they are meant to appear as they are. They would probably be most useful for people shooting stationary subjects like auction items up close with a tripod, using slow shutter speeds and narrow apertures for good depth of field. I'm attaching a few photos that may help you estimate the lighting conditions. For the pumpkin shot, both lights were only 24 inches from the pumpkin. The exposure was…

Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Adding brighter lamps is easy and economical.

Best features are metal lamps and portable light stands. The only plastic parts of the light, such as the bracket that attaches the lights to the stands. Be careful not to break them and they will hold. My set had a top barn door that didn't stay open very well and I couldn't tighten it with a screwdriver. If that were a problem though, I would use a drop of rubber glue - something flexible - or something else to add the resistance holding the barn door in place. Many reviewers complain that…

  • Big and chunky
