A picture is worth a thousand words.

I don't normally write reviews, but felt the need to do so. A picture says more than a thousand words, but this picture only needs one. garbage

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some issues

Good product! - Solar and wind power

Great product! I used a Marine 3M 5200 to mount it to the top of my bed frame (horizontally) and route the solar cables to the battery pack in the back of my truck. Not a drop comes out.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Legacy model

Four 10 gauge UV protected wires!

Great little case. I was able to run four 10 gauge wires (UV shielded) through this cover onto the roof. I had to remove the outer screw on the terminals to get them to work, but there wasn't room around the cables to let anything through. I used some sealant to make sure no water got in. One 10 gauge wire per side would be ideal, but two per side is fine!

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Minor issues

It was easy to assemble

Used this on our Ford Transit to run solar cables through the roof. We used high strength 3M tape to attach it to the roof and seal it with a lap joint. It was easy to assemble. Can't tell if it will work yet as our van is still being built in a closed garage. The bend in the roof was a bit tight for the 10 gauge wire used. Overall, this will most likely do the job it was intended for.

  • Certified
Cons

The MC 4 buttons are useless but it looks like Entry Gland will work.

No inlet fitting installed but the extra money for two MC4 connectors was a waste of money. This was the reason for choosing this item. Part of the key does not fit the MC 4 nut and is therefore completely unusable. Let's hope the inlet gland works. Painted it with paint (as recommended by another reviewer) to avoid UV damage. I've found other manufacturers with much better designs for the same money, so shop around.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Transparency

How could I not know these?

I have long planned to add sun and reversing cameras to my closed trailer and am slowly assembling the parts. But it wasn't until I dug into the solar panel that I noticed this type of through-hole protection. All I had to do was drill a few holes in the roof, protect the cut metal, and "glue and screw" that over the holes. Best of all, I never expected to find something that screws and bolts on so easily and provides a watertight seal around my cables. I'm sure there are thousands ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Everything is fine!

An easy way to route cables across the roof.

A great way to route cables from the outside of a car roof. It is understood that you will use something under the panel and on screws not included to waterproof the contact between the plastic and the roof. My process was simple, run the wire through and decide how long it will be inside and out, then thread the device around the wires, drill a hole, run the wires through the roof, apply putty, where the box goes, knead and screw. Metal screws, then apply with putty the self-leveling materialโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

I recommend this product

A bit pricey for a piece of plastic but overall well thought out. Note that double-sided tape and/or mounting tape is probably not sufficient to hold it in place against the pressure of wires or cables entering or exiting the unit. Don't worry I drilled four mounting bolts to mount it securely to the roof of my fiberglass van and this with mounting tape and roof seal made it tight and watertight. To reduce potential water leaks, consider drilling separate, narrow holes for each of the twoโ€ฆ

Goldilocks will love this!

I figured for the price I could always get a better quality replacement if that turned out to be disappointing; What a surprise! It seems sturdy enough to be easily mounted on the roof of my unit while carefully sealing the inlet. The gland packings are fairly flexible so I would expect them to seal very well. The case isn't drilled for mounting, but that's a good thing. You can determine the best position for the screws in your installation and drill the holes accordingly. If you don't want to

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
