Solid extensions. on Cables & Interconnects

a few strands. Instead of completely rewiring, I just used a couple of these extensions. Everything works fine, there are no connection errors and no gigabit speed drops. I don't know how they will perform for very long distances (my runs don't exceed 50 feet total). Pros: Very strong, well constructed, with strong joints that won't loosen over time. Cons: A bit pricey but you get what you pay for.

Pros
  • Prepare your network for the future of 10 Gigabit Ethernet at a Cat5e price point with this convenient and affordable 5 piece inline Ethernet connector
Cons
  • Crumples

correct length. Unfortunately I ran into a case where I needed a shielded cable that branches somewhere. I needed white wire (where the shield was no longer an issue) and couldn't find white shielded wire of the right length. So I run a piece of shielded black wire to the connector and a piece of unshielded white wire to the end of the path. Of course, I wanted either a black or white connector if possible, but while searching, this is what I found: an unpainted metal connector (matte silver)…

  • This 8P8C ethernet jack is backwards compatible with a Cat5e network
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Required to extend the 170ft CAT link from the data closet to one of my 4 Unifi Wireless Access Points (WAPs). Metal - fully shielded connector with high quality plated connectors and perfect RJ45 fit with no gap - and a simple but amazing 25" Genuine Revain Basics CAT7 600MHz Ethernet Cable - I HAVE ANYTHING to lose (ping, jitter or throughput) in the complex - large home network I have. I have full GHz down and 50mb for my house. The problem was placing the fourth WAP and mitigating…
