Excellent internal replacement

I like having 2 optical drives but the old one just doesn't work anymore. It was on an old drive with a SATA adapter. Since my other drive was the same brand, I bought it to replace another drive. Works fine and doesn't tell me to format every drive inserted (like I said, the old one died). I liked the price and was lucky with the brand.

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Negative impression

Good price for a long good name.

Good disk. I recommend it for a LINUX user, that's what I got for my latest build. I really like that they drop in price so much that it's easy on the pocket. Many high-end motherboards these days don't have IDE pins and you need a SATA drive. This one is fast and intelligent. You will need your own SATA cable for this, which is not included in the scope of delivery. They're not expensive and the overall price is good enough, so what the heck?

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Writing backups is a breeze.

As some others have said, this disc works very well for XBOX 360 backups. Just let BurnerMax create an 8.7GB disc image instead of the 8.4GB shown (see YouTube for help /explanation), abgx360 and imgburn (with the right settings) and done. If you bought it to burn regular DVDs and CDs, then you also have a good and cheap burner. So far I've flashed 3 games with no problems. I have Liteon "F" firmware. It doesn't need sewing at all.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Hard to say

Lite-on Lower price, as well as reliability and longevity!

Although I am now retired, until 2002 I worked for a large company with over 1,200 employees where one of my jobs was maintaining and repairing desktops. I also owned and operated my own independent computer shop that assembles, sells, services, repairs and upgrades desktop systems from 95 to 2002. bought and used Lite-On. I currently have 5 systems running at home, all with dual Lite-on recorders. I noticed that I had another crash.

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • Communication with Seller

Not "like new ". Not "unused ".

BOTH drives had problems preventing or severely delaying my PC's Windows from booting. I believe they have been overused to write large amounts of discs and the optical readers are failing due to this overuse so they can't "see" if the disc is in the drive and so they keep looking to find it . One of the drives had poor bearings and vibrated loudly when revved up, which was also a clear sign of excessive wear. How they could be offered as "unused" with such obvious signs of excessive wear shows

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Infinitely slow

Guarantee is JOKE! Choose a different manufacturer.

I installed the CD that I received and after a few months the tray stopped working. Even if the tray were operated manually, the drive would not read discs. I hardly used the drive so I figured I just had a tramp. It happens. When I contacted the LITE-ON warranty department, they first gave me the wrong email address to request an RMA, so I had to contact them a second time to fix the issue. I was then told that I would have to pay for shipping to their west coast facility to have the unit…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything is fine
