Great basic power supply for computers and accessories

I haven't fully tested whether they really deliver the 480W mentioned. I've built systems that haven't even touched 300 watts when used. I've built about a dozen of these systems with these power supplies and haven't encountered a problem yet. If you're building a system over 350W I might recommend paying the extra $11 for a better product, but if like me you're trying to figure out how much power you can fit into the tightest of budgets, this is a great power supply .

The right tool for SOME jobs.

Mind you, this is the cheapest power supply you can get. If you're looking to upgrade a low-power PSU, stop being mean and pay real money for a reliable PSU. I use them for automation projects. I'm definitely not overestimating the amperage, so I can't say how much power it will deliver. They are ideal for Arduino systems and the like as they provide all the correct voltages. I also used one of these to make a simple 12V, 5V, and 3.3V lab power supply. If you use power supplies for anythingโ€ฆ

Cheapest Power Supplies

This power supply features DUAL SATA (2 SATA connectors) but connected to ONE CABLE, giving you 3 to 4 inches of space for your SATA devices. It's basically an old PSU with 2 SATA connectors replacing the 2 MOLEX connectors that were there before. There are better power supplies in this price/performance class that split the SATA connections over different cables and have a 20+8 connection instead of the outdated 20+4. If you have an older computer that requires a replacement power supply withโ€ฆ

Very short lifespan! 3 months and died.

I bought this kit to replace a defective power supply in my Dell desktop computer. It worked great for about 3 months, after that the computer wouldn't even turn on to boot. My motherboard LEDs light up, but the computer doesn't do anything like it did before I bought this power supply. In short, I'm back where I started, spending money on a product that didn't last long enough to justify the bargain price.

  • Complete Kit

Great for older Dells

I installed this power supply in a 10 year old Dell Dimension 3000. The Dimension 3000 is known for being loud (the CPU doesn't have a direct fan), but even with the addition of a direct CPU fan, it was still noisy. This power supply has two fans. Some complain that it's noisy, but it actually pulls heat away from the rest of the computer. Not overly loud. This computer used to roar like a jet engine, but now it only has a silent fan. Getting 480 watts for this price is a lot.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Amplifiers are fine and no heat is generated

It works and does what it's supposed to do, but for some reason the computer doesn't work. a driver issue or something more serious with the motherboard on my particular computer. I did not have time to fix it, but the performance is as it is, the amplifiers are good, it does not heat up. everything has power. All disks are checked but not loaded. The power supply is great, the computer is not.

Lasted six and a half years, plus the small size is great. . .

It wasn't the best power supply, but it was cheap and lasted six and a half years. It went through a motherboard upgrade and two CPU upgrades and just recently failed. I say it's a good buy for $25. I was trying to fit a couple of different power supplies into a home media computer connected to my projector in this case with a Blu-ray installed in it. It was the only one I could find that accommodated both (but only just). I'll order again as a replacement and also a newer PSU that's smallerโ€ฆ

Years Later Internal Power Supplies

My Amazon Says Last Purchase October 3, 2014 Today February 17, 2021 This thing is still working on my i5 6500 as I type this. Probably because I don't emphasize it, I have a very simple setup "processor / mobile / 32GB RAM in 4 sticks / 1 SSD / 1HD. WITHOUT A VIDEO CARD or any OS, I use the built-in 6500Igpu, do photoshop and photo editing.

I couldn't be happier

My 4 year old Lenovo desktop computer was found dead the other day. After some fiddling and talking to a friend who knows these things, I figured the power supply was probably bad. I ordered that and replaced the bad one in about 10 minutes and all is good. What offer! The local computer shop wanted to charge me $75 just to check. Everything seems to be working great and I can't even hear the funny work. All is well.

Not suitable for 3D printing

First, let me introduce my use case to the front of this review. I haven't used this for a regular computer. I used this for a 3D printer. The RepRap RAMPS board is rated for 16A total, so I got a PSU that was the cheapest I could find that was rated for at least 16A on the 12V line and the ratings looked decent. So I tried this one. I have died two of them. Of course, this is probably a slightly unusual use case, and I just disabled the 12 volt rail. But while I haven't checked the currentโ€ฆ
