Lux Mechanical Minute Minder Timer in White with Black Markings for 60 Minutes Review

This timer is offset by one minute. Which wouldn't be a big deal, except that the whole point of this thing is getting the timing right. That's all he does! But he's always a minute behind. I unscrewed the back plate to see if I could replace it, but the screw holes are such that it only takes a minute to assemble. boo :(

I had a Lux minute timer for many, many years until it finally wore out - probably 50 years old - my 67 year old daughter can't remember ever having one, was it doesn't - this one is just as accurate, but I noticed that it's a lot lighter - the other one was made of heavier parts and plastic. A sign of the times I think, but I still use it several times a day.

I've seen some bad reviews about this timer saying the ring is too short. I followed the instructions to wind it up for at least 30 minutes and then reset it to the correct time. When you do this, you will hear a long enough and loud ringing sound. Within 1 hour it calls even longer. So this works very well for me.

This was advertised as a single "Glockenspiel" or "Glockenspiel" which looked like a very old one I had but was completely worn out. But he has a "briefing" like most people do today, which I don't like either. Really, it's just a matter of personal preference as it works well as long as you remember to turn it fully before setting the time. (But I still miss the less annoying "ringing".)

I use it to detect laundry in the washing machine or set the time to watch TV shows. If the show is supposed to start in 20 minutes, I set the timer for 19 minutes. However, it only works after 25 minutes or more. Same thing happens when I try to time my food. This timer is losing time. . .I had the exact same lux timers before but they always showed the correct time and never lost time. I'm disappointed with this because Lux timers have historically been very reliable.

Item arrived as described but in a 6" x 6" box with no protection, bubble wrap, wrapping paper, nothing. The default value is about -1.5 minutes. It ticks as expected but doesn't beep even if the set time is much longer than the set time. I used to have a timer like this and I really liked it. When it finally broke after years of service, I bought another replacement from Williams-Sonoma. This replacement failed within a year. Although time passed normally, the call is now so faint that it can hardly be heard. I noticed that this Lux brand was on sale during Prime Days and ordered it straight away.
