Know your system, reap the benefits

Suitable for older systems that do not have an m2 slot on the motherboard. If you plan to boot the operating system from a hard drive mounted on this PCIe bracket, first make sure your motherboard/BIOS supports booting from a PCIE device. Was a little confused when I was able to select a drive during the Windows setup process, but the setup failed after the first reboot because the BIOS didn't recognize it as a bootable device. On the other hand, Windows allows me to install games onto the hard

Pros
  • Large selection

Good performance: computers and accessories

Good so I gave 5 stars for cleanliness. Whatever that means :) It was a little tricky getting the bracket protrusion behind the MB when inserted into the PCIe slot, but otherwise easy installation. My new M.2 drive works great after initializing. After reaching the advertised speed (Photo 3), the Samsung EVO 970 M.2 installed in the MB's M.2 slot has similar speeds (Photo 4) for comparison. The rubber bands for attaching the heatsink are a bit flimsy, but other heatsink kits use these two…

Pros
  • Expensive but decent

  • Fits

Some assembly required

So I bought this little bug for my Dell t30 server as Dell in their infinite wisdom sent out a BIOS update months ago that disabled onboard m.2 and I had to add m.2 scratch drive so my plex server has a slightly faster device to transcode. Fast forward to unboxing day. Not a single piece of this thing was assembled, okay, no big deal right? I'm just very picky about my time, but this information horse has moved forward. Many small screws and a few selected words later and the thing was ready to

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Style 90

Great when the extra M.2 slot is limited

I have an MSI x470 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard with two M.2 slots. I always thought both could run at full speed with two hard drives. I made a mistake so I had to order an adapter and use a 16x or 4x PCIe slot. I ordered this thinking my drive could run in either of the two x4 PCIe slots I had, but I was wrong. From the looks of it, it's actually an 8-way adapter. You need a free 16x slot to install this adapter. After installation, my drive actually reached the advertised speed. I have a…

Good performance: Serial adapters

Good, so I gave 5 stars for the transparency. Whatever that means :) MB when plugged into a PCIe slot, but otherwise an easy install. My new M.2 drive works great after initializing. The rubber bands for attaching the heatsink are a bit flimsy, but other heatsink kits use these two, sometimes smaller ones. Docked the star because it was difficult to…

Pros
  • ➤ Equipped with aluminum heatsink, the cooling effect can reach 5-20 degrees Celsius
Cons
  • Negative impression

All you need is a long blue PCIe 3.0x4 slot . Be careful - if you have a graphics card it goes in the same slot, so either you don't use a graphics card or you have more than one such slot (usually only more expensive motherboards). I've tried this on a gigabye motherboard that matches 3rd gen Intel processors (I have an i7-3770) and it won't boot Windows, probably nothing will boot right away (ie via the BIOS) so you'll need a Clover -need configuration. Don't worry, it's easy, just search…

Pros
  • ➤ Equipped with an aluminum heatsink that offers a cooling effect of 5-20 degrees Celsius

  • So far so good

Added NVMe in 2010 Mac Pro 5.1

Was on a Mac Pro update during quarantine. I watched some videos on how to add an NVMe M.2 SSD so I decided to give it a try. Attaching the thermal pad and heatsink to the Samsung EVO 970 1TB was easy. While it's intuitive if you've upgraded your computer before, there were instructions just in case. The instructions are hard to read but it might just be my eyesight. I then inserted the finished SSD into the adapter and tightened it with the supplied screw. I popped it into slot 4 of the Mac…

  • ➤Support NVMe SSD such as Samsung 950Pro/960EVO/XP941/PM951/PM961/SM951/SM961, Plextor M6e series, Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 SSD etc.
Cons
  • No performance
