Description of M5Stack Core2 ESP32 Development Kit 2nd Gen Core Device CP2104 MPU 6886 BT WiFi Dual Core 32-bit 240Mhz LX6 CPUs 16M Flash 8M PSRAM for UIFlow MicroPython Arduino

[Useful Link]: Please get the link from the product description below. [Appplication]:Internet of things terminal controller; Stem education product; DIY creation; Smart home equipmen. [Improvement]: M5Core2 further enhances the functions of the original generation of cores. The MCU is an ESP32 model D0WDQ6-V3 and has dual core X t e n s a 32-bit 240Mhz LX6 processors that can be controlled separately; WiFi and Bluetooth are supported as standard and it includes an on board 16MB Flash and 8MB PSRAM, USB TYPE-C interface for charging, downloading of programs and serial communication, a 2.0-inch integrated capacitive touch screen, and a built-in vibration motor. [Power Supply]: The battery capacity has been upgraded to 3.7V/390mAh, which can power the core for much longer than the previous model. The power supply is managed by an AXP192 power management chip, which can effectively control the power consumption of the base and a built-in green LED power indicator helps to notify the user of battery level. [Note]: The development platform and programming language supported by M5Stack Core2: A r d u i n o, UIFlow (using Blockly, MicroPython language).

Good hardware package for experimenting with ESP32.

Hardware is well made and packaged. Battery life is a bit short, but I wasn't expecting much in that regard given the LiPo size limitations that could be built into the product. The examples for this newer model (which uses the MPU6886+BMM150) are a bit sparse, so until they're updated on the M5Stack Github site, you'll need to put in some effort if you use them.

Cons
  • Some little things

Walled in immediately, but good device for the time being

Broken immediately after trying to update the firmware; There is no way to recover. Also, there's currently no touchscreen driver support, so you'll have to rewrite everything to handle touch input versus physical buttons. Features I'm sure it will be a great device with a few updates, but for now it's too new. Get an older version if you clearly don't need a touchscreen or spend most of your time rewriting code.

Cons

UIFlow is VERY buggy

I like the concept of the M5 hardware stack and UIFlow. if it worked correctly. 99% of the time I try to download and nothing happens. Very frustrating. I don't know why another programming method could work better, but I haven't tried it yet. Looks like an unreliable USB issue that seems to have been removed from the M5Stacks forum. I'm saying this because I'm trying to search for the errors I'm getting and am seeing a TON of results. all point to the M5Stack forum. but those posts have been…

Good product but not the latest version

Very good platform and mostly open source. Please note this is NOT the latest version of this kit. From January 2018 there is a new one with 4MB PSRAM. There are several quality issues due to loose connector pins on both the inner and outer connector below. They're a bit loose and have intermittent contact, causing random reboots and connection issues. They can be repaired by GENTLY pulling the plastic case up off the pins, bending the pins together slightly, and then replacing the plastic…

good hardware, very buggy and limited programming software

I give these 2 stars as they are a decent hardware package. However, the UIFlow software that is supposed to be able to program it is extremely buggy. Core2 boards keep resetting themselves when blinking, and when they turn on, they automatically jump to a part of the UIFlow application (i.e. if you have WiFi configured, the board will try to establish WiFi for an hour, no matter how many times you use it off and on). However, the main problem with the UIFlow software is that the capacitive…

Nice update with some differences from the previous model

I've been a big fan of m5stack modules for a while. These are very handy products for applications where you need more than one breakout board but don't want to go through the hassle of building a case etc. I have several early versions of this product - m5stack "basic" . The original was always a really good product for management projects, but this beautiful color screen was dying to go touchscreen. Core2 solves this problem. Gone are the three tactile buttons on the front. They have been…
