Too weak, too fond. good for kits

I really, really wanted them to be awesome. We spent the money on real "magna tiles" but I was immediately disappointed. Too bad how weak they are. I have regular (non-tile) magformers as well as fake magformers. A Magna tile isn't nearly as strong as a Magformer (both real and fake). DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY. Their magnetic power is weak, so unless you're ok with just 2D (not 3D) shapes, you're ok with that. But they can't take it. I wish I could get my money back.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Great toy but not Lego.

Great cars definitely add fun and versatility to this great collection. It's fun to make toy cars and trains. However, as you might expect, Magnatiles tend to fall off easily when traveling in small vehicles. And if you're thinking of using it as a train, the magnets in the two carriages obviously only stick around the smoothest of turns. As long as you wait for the limitations of the magnets, they will not disappoint you. These are great toys, but they're not as versatile as Lego or Duplos.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

If you like Magnatiles, you'll love them!

We bought this for my 2 year old who loves to build and is obsessed with his magnet set. He likes building cars and trains. They are very well made and compatible with Magnatils and other branded tiles. Some people think the magnet isn't strong enough, but I find it's enough for small hands that wouldn't otherwise be able to take it apart when assembling it. They are very well made and can be played on again and again and sometimes even thrown across the living room. Highly recommended!

  • Excellent overall performance

No gift for any child.

This was a present for our grandson who played with it in kindergarten and really wanted them to play with it at home. But they are definitely expensive and seem less creatively versatile than other popular building blocks like Lego. We only bought this set along with the 48 tile set because he is our grandson and this is one of the things he really wanted for his birthday. We wouldn't spend that much money on a gift for a child and would probably never randomly pick him at those prices unless…

Cool idea but lacks functionality

Our kids are big fans of magnetic tiles and I thought this would be a really fun addition to their game. At first it seemed we were right. However, it quickly became apparent that Magnatiles were built for stationary structures, not movement. Even the simplest and strongest cars fall apart at the slightest bump. Try to get fancier and you'll be lucky if you can make it 3 feet before this thing falls apart. The money would definitely be much better invested in another set of magnets to expand…

Train, Truck & Van Assembly – Perfect Expansion Pack

They sell out so often that I had to keep checking my wish list. I tried Ebay and they sold at a huge ridiculous markup. I bought them here at Revain for $14.99. My son is 21 months old and can't get enough of his Magna-Tiles. Neither his parents nor his kindergarten friends. We already had Magna-Tiles 12148 Clear Colors 48 DX, a toy set that includes a car. It's easy to create Magna Tile trains, Magna Tile trucks, and Magna Tile vans with this expansion kit. They work side by side as well as…

  • Lots of positive vibes
