Useless Magnifier for Science Classroom

Based on my observations, this magnifier does not serve its purpose in the classroom. The magnifying lens is too weak to provide a clear detailed view of objects, making it difficult for students to learn. The only good thing about it is that it is ultrathin, which makes it easy to store. However, this doesn't make up for its overall uselessness.

Charcoal Lighter/Carafe Lid

Media failed to load. Funny little trick. You can also use it as a magnifying glass, but you'll see lines embedded in the lens. And in a pinch it works to cover my wine decanter to keep dust out of it. Works perfectly!

Does what it's supposed to do

Bought two of these picks for a science project. Came quickly and whole. With a collimated source, the focal length appears to be pretty much right around 50cm, the transmission (500nm visible) is estimated at around 80%, which is unimpressive but normal for acrylic lenses.
