Description of πŸ”¨ Bolt Restoration Woodworking Projects: Unleash Your Inner Maker!

Head size: 3/8". Square head lag bolts are a hard to find antique bolt style. NOTE: The rustic black oxide finish has a light oil coating for corrosion resistance during transport and storage, just like the lag bolts of 100 years ago. 100 Screws. Requires pre-drilled hole and installs with wrench or 3/8" 8-point socket.

It's hard to find a good fastener for the fastener

Great but we recommend using a black washer for a better look and to keep your head straight. Be careful not to overtighten - this is not Class 8! Use a 12-point socket wrench for a low-torque drive.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Expensive

Nice period detail

I built a smaller version of a 1775 British 24 pounder to mount in front of my flagpole and the square head screws were just what I needed to add a period detail to it lend because hexagon head screws only came into use in the early 20th century.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some flaws

Perfect for rustic style

I used these to install barn joist brackets and they were just what I was looking for. They have a satin finish after the oil has been wiped off. The black coating held up pretty well to the repeated tightening and loosening of the screws while I was figuring out how snug my robe fit. A 3/8-inch open-end wrench, 7/16 x 12 box-end wrench, or 12-point socket will work for them.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions
