I liked my older one a lot better

I liked my old one a lot more. When I put a drill or other tool in a collet, I usually have to tighten the collet nut because the collet isn't high enough or is too tight. Tried lube in the hole, didn't help. Now it looks like I need to cut some metal into the collet hole. I think my older one had higher RPMs. Makita did not make a carrying case for this tool like most of the other items they sell.

Pros
  • Powerful 3.5A motor delivers 25,000rpm for the toughest conditions
Cons
  • unreliable

Makita GD0600: Grinders

I bought this to replace my air powered grinder and couldn't be happier. I am a hobby welder and avid DIY enthusiast and this grinder does the job perfectly. I use it mostly for cleaning welds and 1/4" burr cuts. I bought a fixed speed model, but if you need that feature there's a variable available. That's better than lugging around hose and compressor. Honestly to say the least this is my first electric die grinder so i can't compare it to other devices but it helped me a lot.

Pros
  • Small diameter barrel handle for comfort
Cons
  • Damaged

Great tool that should last a long time.

As a pipe welder I bought this die grinder to help me prepare the pipe from the inside for TIG welding with the wheels fold down. I wouldn't say this grinder has tremendous power, but enough to get the job done. I'm glad I chose the paddle version of this grinder, it's much more comfortable to use, especially with larger hands. The tools appear to have excellent build quality and should last a long time if not abused by too much stress (i.e. let the RPMs do the work for you rather than pushing…

Pros
  • Directional vents direct airflow away from the tool and away from the user's face
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
