When I first received the drill it seemed to be in good condition but after some serious work it started to heat up. The problem persisted until one day it stopped working altogether. After it was checked by an authorized workshop, they told me that it was really bad, especially the speed control card that was burned. I bought Dewalt and am happy now.
Pros
Dual mode operation: Spin Only or Spin Impact for multiple applications.
My Porter Cable impact drill sounded like a regular drill when it was new. Shrill, loud, and I thought it was the sound of a working instrument. This Makita changes everything, at least for a slow one catching up to me. This drill sounds like a jet, or rather the jet sound of the coolest machine you've ever seen in a movie, quiet and manageable. I used a 1/2" drill bit on 6x6 wet compression bars. This Makita changed my expectations for performance and noise.
I bought this drill with the expectation that with good care it would last for many years. I was very wrong. After 5 minutes of mixing the solution on medium mode, the drill started smoking and failed very quickly. At first I thought maybe I had a marriage so I returned it for a replacement. The new drill was sent very quickly and after 5 minutes of medium stress the second one also burned through. Miles from home. Maybe I should just buy the tools at my local hardware store and forget aboutβ¦
