These connectors may work if your power cord is new and flexible; Mine is 7 years old and hard. After soldering the connector to the spare lamp wires, I couldn't get the tiny pins to puncture the insulation of my 12 gauge power cord, so I used pliers to apply more force to the connector. It broke. Luckily I also bought a pair of Malibu Low Voltage Fastlock Cable Twisted Connectors and that saved the day. More force is used to screw the connector pins into the cable, and the slightly longer pins

Expensive but necessary

The same product is available at Home Depot for about the same price. The device serves as a quick connection to low voltage wiring for external (outdoor) accent or landscape lighting. The material cost for this product must not exceed $0.30 per item. I can't imagine a supplier being able to sleep through the night charging these costs. Installation is a bit complicated, although you might think it should be easy. I used pliers to gently squeeze the two components together. However, they do not

Better connectors available - these stink

I threw away almost my entire low voltage system because I was frustrated with these wired connectors. I had to replace them every year and was constantly dancing "light doesn't work, is it a bulb, is it a plug?" Not to mention the constant on-off caused the bulbs to burn out due to a loose connection. They always work well for a few months after installation, but lose touch after a few winters. I finally found Portfolio screw caps at Lowe's. They're not much more expensive than Malibu plugs…

Pros
  • Quick Mount with Latch
Cons
  • Obsolete Model
