This is a nice light wood. Well packaged and arrived ahead of schedule. He also had a small locket. It was held together with 4 screws and 4 nails. Suitable for beginners and advanced skin lovers.

Too light and flimsy to hold leather items in place when pulling seams. Suitable for light materials but not strong enough for holsters, wallets, etc.

Pony stitches are made of very weak wood and don't have good holding pressure. The skin moves a little. I've seen more photos of other ponies and will take mine next time.

This works very well for small projects like wallets, but even in its tightest form it still slips and lacks a grip lever. It would be completely useless for anything other than a purse/bag or small belt.

Bought some ponies for a leatherworking class. Some had a longer base piece, so shorter. This is the shorter version. Does not come with leather cheek pads. May not be suitable for a tall person as the jaws can be very close to the person. If you are a petite woman then yes.

I am very disappointed in the lack of commitment to quality control when assembling a product from a poorly cut piece just because it is 'close enough'. Upon unboxing I could see that the block was not cut straight at the base which is irritating to the eyes and can affect the long term reliability/stability of the instrument. Then when I reassembled I saw that the vertical part (also in the photo) isn't a square either! What does that say about the build quality? It's bad enough to annoy me…
