Terrible reliability - camera plate screw keeps breaking off in transit. The right side plate fell off. I do not recommend.

Lack of quality control. Manfrotto customer service is arrogant and takes no responsibility. Bought 2 of their 509 heads, both had problems. I received a 504 in a 509 box and another was so carelessly damaged that it almost entirely reflected the apathy of Manfrotto customer service. Art imitating life, I suppose. I am a film professional and use this device every day. I switched from my 504HD heads to this guy. WOW, that's a beast. But it can bear much more weight and balance very well. This company does great things. It was the cheapest head model before you went to something like Shaktler or something. I use this head with a Zacuto built C100, EVF, pistol mic, long throw lenses, teleprompter. It holds.

I bought it with a 545GBK tripod. I used to rent a Sachtler DV1015 head and tripod kit to mount the PXW-FS5 or used my own benro s7 fluid head for the 5D Mark IV. The 509HD performs really well, almost on par with the Sachtler head, particularly in terms of pan and tilt smoothness.
