Don't waste your time with cheaper air stones.

Being new to aquariums I bought 4 packs of $2 air stones. And of course not a single bubble came out of the 3 I had connected to my air pump. As soon as I plugged in one of those Marina bricks, it worked straight away. Suggestion: If you need to disconnect the hose from the stone for any reason, DO NOT pull on the hose as you think it will move. Make a small cut in the tube. I damaged 2 airstones with my hard head.

Pros
  • Air Pump Accessory
Cons
  • Vulgarity

I raise salmon in my class and have been told that aeration would help. I ordered 2 air pumps and these air stones. I hooked up the first brick and it worked great, but when I set up the second pump it didn't work. Was it the pump or the stone that was defective. I changed the stones and found that the stone was defective. Luckily there were 2 extra bricks in the pack and one worked. When the defect was reported, the item was happily replaced.

Pros
  • Fish and aquatic pets
Cons
  • Low maintainability

Great stones. Let them soak first.

I've had these for a few months now and they're still working great. One tip though: let them soak in the tank for at least 10 minutes before turning on the pump. I use mine with this Tetra 77854 Whisper Air Pump, 60 gallon, which comes with a pair of knobs to adjust airflow to reduce/increase bubbles. I have not noticed any manufacturing defects on these stones, they are well made and as I said have been working 24/7 for months without a single problem. I didn't notice any chips or breaks…
