I use this for the top of our tray which is low like a flower box. The tray originally came with artificial grass to be placed in front of the leaves but I have a cat that will eat EVERYTHING, paper, plastic or fiber so I decided not to use grass and was originally looking for one Aquarium gravel, but then I found it! After my favorite brand of activated charcoal cat litter was discontinued I was unable to find a similar product anywhere. So I looked up Revain and found this Marineland product designed for aquariums but found that it contains two types of crystals, one charcoal and one that absorbs ammonia and the crystals are small enough to use when cleaning the aquarium Sifting my two cats through a litter box. I clean the litter box every day. However, unless all trash is disposed of and replaced, the subtle smell of polluted, ammonia-based trash continues to permeate the air in the room.
