I love these things - Marker Tools

I bought these on a whim, so tired of markers, soapstones and markers. You have done a great job. I bought a small pack of sharpeners to put in the box and that's the only minor complaint I have. They're pretty soft and I have to sharpen them often, but they leave very sharp lines that don't wear out. They aim no matter how bad steel, they don't walk and they don't have a huge spike that reduces accuracy. Haven't tried them on wet steel but that's about it.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Difficult to sharpen Good for measuring and marking tools

I have 3 portable pencil sharpeners at the store that they don't sharpen. The lead breaks in the pin and falls out. I have to go to my house and use a wall sharpener with dual spiral rotating blades to sharpen them without breaking the lead. Otherwise I like them, they draw well on black for layout. If I need to see the line when welding, e.g. B. butt joining thin material or in a three sided corner and the line is hard to see I use a silver marker or chalk which are brighter and keep me from…

I've been using it for two years.

I love these pencils. They don't rub off like soapstone. Even a strong wind can erase a soapstone track overnight. Especially rain, and these pens can withstand that too. But they still rub off with some grease on their elbows and saliva or the rough tip of a gloved thumb. The lines are sharp, clear and easily visible when cutting and welding. But to my surprise I found today that they are identical to Prismacolor colored pencils. The same as the artists use. The color you can get is Metallic…

Must have welder/maker

I personally prefer this to soapstone. There's such a fine line. It doesn't burn under a torch (I know soapstone does too). the red turns white under the torch, I prefer a sliver to see the torch better. It leaves a more permanent mark than the soapstone: you can run your glove over the line you made, it won't fade, blur or lose air. It has a "similar" consistency to a pastel or china pencil and when the steel is hot the tip melts faster but leaves a lighter or more defined line leading to the…

Pulls well on painted and bare steel!

I'm new to welding but I'm very picky about writing instruments. For woodworking, plain old American #2 pencils do the job just fine, but as I started researching the various options, soapstones seem to pop up everywhere until someone mentions these pencils. I liked the results and bought it straight away and still have no regrets. The label backing is softer; soft enough to leave marks on the skin, which I haven't tried yet. So with that in mind, you'll need to sharpen it often, but a small…
