I read the reviews after ordering and was a bit concerned about the size. This is for toddlers and 10 year olds. I don't know what other people have done to stop their pearls from growing, but they are medium, not pea-sized. I added 3 cups of water to a teaspoon and they seemed to soak up the water quickly so we added more and they grew to the size of a ball. They grew and filled the buckets completely, and then I tossed them all in the tub overnight to keep them from spilling out of the buckets. I used swim liners to keep them all inside.
