Works well, better than scissors

I wanted something where scissors could cut the negative strips, not the eyeball. It works well. I can line up the border between the negatives and cut the film with a small guillotine. The film reel wheel is really ah, but everything works.

Pros
  • Works great for me
Cons
  • Fairly well

Film can get scratched and film advance will not work properly

This has become my go-to letter opener (and works great for it). Cannot be used with foil as the plastic part will scratch longitudinally and the foil feed will slip. You must pull the leading edge of the slide to pull the slide through.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Product works but poor build quality

As the name suggests, the product really works. The build quality is poor, the wheel that advances the film is bent or deformed or something like that, when the film advances it stops, releases us, and then we turn on and start again, it hurts a bit because you cannot feed the film without using this steering wheel.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Hard to tell

works + lighting solution

Works and does what it should. below if applicable. I'm sure there are more elegant solutions, but this was what I had on hand and it works great. I give 4 out of 5 because the price is high for what it is. But in terms of functionality, I have no complaints.

worked for a while, now unusable.

I used it to cut about 50 rolls of mixed 35 and 120 film, with lighting from below it worked well for a while. The blade doesn't always cut straight, and now the forward wheel that moves the film through the device isn't enough - you have to stretch the film and risk damaging it. The case appears to be glued, so it's not user-serviceable. waste of money. Next time I'll buy a good pair of scissors.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • No.

Don't waste your time

I am editing the film I am developing and am taking a break to write this review. I tried 5 rolls of 35mm film and one 120mm roll. It cuts film very well. But the film advance wheel does NOT work, it catches enough to advance a few cm IF I'm lucky, otherwise I'll have to coax and feed the film myself. I wasted more time getting the film to work properly than I should have saved. I want to like it, I want it to work, but it just doesn't work and I don't work.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Minor issues

A must if you have a lot of uncut film

I have a lot of film, old and new, that needs sorting and scanning and scissors just can't cut it (pun intended). This cutter works very well (so far) for what I need. My only complaint is that even though the bottom is transparent, the amount of light coming from my light bar is greatly reduced. With low-contrast negatives or when the image fades towards the edge of the image, it can sometimes be difficult to see the end of the image. Positive film has the same problem when the image is dark…

Works well with film

This unit works well with 35mm and 6 x 4.5cm slides and negatives As another reviewer mentioned, putting a light underneath it helps to avoid film frame separations to determine exactly. My scanner accepts 35mm wide strips of 6 frames and cuts the film to the correct length perfectly. When I receive the negatives and slides from the lab they come in separate long strips in long clear glassine sleeves that protect the entire roll. The cutter is more difficult to use with foil in an envelope. But

Simple negative cutter

Looks like a simple negative cutter. And again, this product gets the job done. The white plastic areas allow light through the product to see the edges of the image on the negative film. So far I've just held the product up to the light to center the edge of the negative on the crop edge, then placed it on the table and pulled the trim lever. Can it be that the negative film is scratched by the plastic? However, I think this is a moot point as there is a risk in every task and if you have to…
