Too Many Bugs in Computer and Accessories

This product works well as a USB hub, but is ineffective when used with an external monitor connected via DVI. It is also ineffective as an Ethernet connection. The monitor sometimes goes black and there is often right-to-left movement across the screen. When the computer goes into sleep mode, Ethernet is disabled; You must restart to restore your internet connection. At $250, that's an outrageous waste of money. If tech support doesn't offer a firmware fix in the next few days, mine will comeโ€ฆ

9 months, still scrap

The worst purchase I have ever made. When I first used it the monitor would turn on and off as others have noted. Matrox support said "It's a monitor." I work at a university and have access to a server for testing - Asus, HP, Gateway, none of the monitor brands I tried worked. Then they said it was the operating system and Apple needed to update it. It was around OS X 10.8.4, then 10.8.5, now Mavericks and 10.9.1 - they still blame Apple for their faulty product. Bought a similar Belkin and it

Does as stated on the bench

Does exactly as stated - no particular complaints. I was a bit reluctant to read some of the reviews but I'm very happy with it. An additional USB 3 port would be nice, but is not absolutely necessary. The build quality is good and it looks very solid. I noticed a tiny scratch under the USB connector when I took it out of the factory box, but it's very hard to see once it's on the table and not worth returning. Internally, the audio is a Burr-Brown USB codec. and Ethernet is Broadcom. Both seem

Comfort with limitations

I'm mainly looking for a way to use my MacBook Air with an external monitor, a Gigabit Ethernet connection and a USB3 drive for Time Machine backup at the same time, with the convenience of a single cable was also on the wish list. DS1 offers all of this. Display output is fine, Ethernet works fine, replacement hard drive works. I can even leave my headphones plugged into the DS1 and choose to send audio to my speakers or headphones. There is a problem that people need to be aware of. When youโ€ฆ

Will not buy Matrox products again

This will be the last Matrox product I buy for personal or professional use. Bought this dock for work. I write software, so I have to work with multiple monitors. At first glance it seemed perfect, but I ran into issues with what I thought was my MacBook Pro. The device sometimes refused to boot due to a black screen. I blamed this on a Mac bug until one day I disabled the DS1 dock. Lo and behold, the Mac started up immediately. It turns out that this docking station can sometimes interfereโ€ฆ

Works as advertised

I have been using this product for about 9 months as my MacBook Air docking solution at work. I have a dual boot laptop between OS X 10.8 and Windows 7. On the Mac side, it works great. The audio is clear, the ethernet is fast and the display looks great on Dell's 22-inch 1680 x 1050 display. Disconnecting and connecting the Thunderbolt port is hassle-free. I connected a USB 3.0 hub to a USB 3.0 port and it works great. The only issues I've seen are minor: one is that the default audio deviceโ€ฆ
