We have used these circles in our wedding centerpieces. The circles were of equal thickness, and the cut surfaces were square and parallel. It appears that a band saw was used to cut the circles so that they could be used as furniture if desired. They're surprisingly light for their size. The sizes fit most of the 4 items I received. Maybe it's just bad luck from what I've read.
