Mayhew Tools 61019 Punch Chisel Review

As good or better than Matco. This is exactly the same set that is sold at half price, but it has more punches and chisels. Also keep them sharp and durable when you need them. I suggest painting them orange or some light color so you don't lose them since they are black.

I bought this set because after lots of reviews and research I thought it was a great deal and also because it's made in the USA. After ordering them, I was told by my Matco dealer that they are the exact same punches and chisels that Matco Tools sells. I've had very bad luck with my 17 piece Matco set so I'm now very skeptical as to how well they will hold up. I think time will tell.

After much research I decided on a Mayhew punch and chisel set. This is a fairly high quality tool set and I am confident that with proper care and most importantly "use" it will last a lifetime. As for proper usage. I made the mistake of trying to remove a fairly solid pin with a punch instead of a starter punch and ended up bending the punch. A note to yourself (and others) on pin punching to remove pins after their removal is first initiated by a kickstart.
