Proper Replacement

This is a proper replacement for a 70hp Johnson outboard motor. 1985. It has internal wiring that conforms to the standard wiring harness. Grounding is required at "I" and control start at "S". "I” and "S” are the pull-in coil contacts. Other solenoids have "I" as 12V plus with "S" connected via a pull-in coil to the solenoid frame for ground.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Small

you are doing great work Good for parts

After 55 years in automotive and heavy industry I've seen good parts and Chinese junk! This electromagnet is the exception to the rule. Conversion of an old Ford tractor to 12 volts. Instead of holding, pushing, and spinning Tjis with this device, it's like jumping into your daily driver. Turn the key and we can start drilling the holes for the rods.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • Zero

Not as pictured Unmarked

This does not look like the picture at all. I try to keep the original look and can't do it if the product in the picture is different than what I received. The Silonoid purchased has no letters or symbols to indicate which wire goes. If connected incorrectly, it may cause a bad situation and possibly a fire. No instructions!

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Crumpled

This solenoid can damage the flywheel teeth and/or the starter.

This magnet worked fine for about 3 days then the starter would not disengage when I started the engine. I ripped the wire off the ignition switch but it still didn't turn off the starter. I had to disconnect the battery to turn off the starter. It turned out that the rather rough copper contacts in the solenoid had been soldered together and the solenoid simply became a large conductor and not a high current relay. DO NOT BUY one of these, it could cost you dearly.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
