Good cable - ethernet cable

Good cable, well designed, works great for my purposes. I used this to run HDMI (HDBaseT) at a remote location in my house, about 90 feet away. Sure, at such a short distance I could probably use CAT5e just as flawlessly, but hey. Do it right or don't do it. It's a bit stiffer than a regular patch cord, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I had to pull it around a few sharp corners and a sharp metal edge or two. No problem. Works flawlessly.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure

Mostly a disappointment

2 of the 6 boxes ordered were unusable. Bad wire from end to end. Couldn't make a 6ft cable that would have been useful. I'm not even sure how to test it other than run a few 80ft runs, put the ends on and check. The only salvation was that I pulled all the cables from 6 boxes at the same time, so instead of 10 broken barrels I only had two. It's been over a year since I pulled everything out and I'm only now starting to check it out. A working cable does a great job and works as intended, but…

  • Consistent test results

  • Could have chosen a newer model

PoE application with Amcrest cameras

I asked an electrician to run conduit from my house to my backyard fence post (about 156 + 136 feet) for two Amcrest POE cameras. It failed initially but it was a bad crimp on both ends, after this was fixed it works fine with NETGEAR GC108P PoE+ Switch + ITW Linx [RM-6MPVD] Cat6 SPD. The cable is flexible and has two cables trapped nicely in a 1 inch metal tube. Installation: 1. NETGEAR GC108P PoE+2 Switch. ITW Linx [RM-6MPVD] Cat6 Surge Protector Connected to Ground (according to…
