. It's like there are chemicals that don't belong together.

Very disappointed I thought it was a good price for the quantity. However, the smell was so strong, even with my windows open and ventilated, that I got such headaches and nausea for a long time. It's like there are chemicals that don't belong together.

Good for practicing calligraphy

You get a good amount of ink for your money and the bottle is easy to pour. Like all sumi ink, it has a slight odor, but not a strong one. The ink is smooth and dark and can be used straight from the bottle or diluted with water for greyscale. I think it's good value for money if you're looking for a decent, easy-to-use ink for calligraphy or ink painting.

Pros
  • Free for classes
Cons
  • Great price

Stained Red Oak Ink

I used this ink to stain red oak cabinets. Red oak is difficult to process due to the varying porosity of the fibers. If you use regular black stain it will look weird. It came out very even and dark but you can still see the texture of the wood. One note: since this is water based you will need to use an oil based finish. The water-based finish activates the ink and smudges it and makes it look weird. Preprocessing is shown.
