That's a great razor!

Well, this is my new journey. I've also used an open comb and it's a good razor, but the angled rod cuts through my whiskers like warm oil. I still use a variety of blades, but the angle the razor offers is perfect. Once I find the perfect blade, I'll be in shaving heaven. My favorite shaving soap is Taylor of Bond Street Sandalwood. I still use a variety of shaving products (Jack Black, Cremo, Poraso, American Crew) and will post an additional update as soon as I do. The same with…

The best shave I've ever had!

I am a black male and bought Merkur after hearing how good it was for curly hair. I use my Merkur with Feather blades to shave my face and head and together they give me the smoothest shave I've ever had. I've used Mach 3 blades for decades and now they seem ridiculous by comparison. I no longer have ingrown hairs or facial irritation, and my hair is soft again between shaves (which is a nice change from annoying stubble). straight razor blade. I recommend beginners to do the same to avoid…

Based on everyone else's feedback I expect this razor to work very well. When comparing my Merkur HD 34C and 37C, however, the difference in quality becomes clear. There has been some negative feedback on the 37C for thread stripping and I can see why. I thought the stripped threads were the result of over tightening the head or not lubricating the threads to prevent corrosion. Now I see that the 37C thread is very poorly finished and doesn't go around the full perimeter of the post. 34C is the

Finally, the shave I wanted

A few years ago, my goal was to get rid of very expensive disposable razors, improve the quality of my shave and continue to explore opportunities to reduce carbon emissions. I read about DE razors and settled on the one advertised as the perfect first time razor. I've also read that blades are very individual, so I might have to try a few before I find the right one. The blade part was very correct: this one pulled hard, this one didn't seem to cut, and I was very frustrated in my attempt to…

Just unbelievable!

Full Details: This is my 4th DE shaver and I only started DE shaving 2 months ago. I have a good comb, Tribute shaving cream and Proraso pre-shave cream. I alternate between Personna Blues and Feather Blades depending on the length of my beard and the razor I use. I have fairly coarse facial hair that turns gray and my skin is moderately sensitive. I have trouble shaving under my chin and around my neck. I started with Edwin Jagger DE89. Good shave but not clean enough. I bought a Merkur Futur…

I thought my DE shave couldn't improve

I've been shaving regularly with the Merkur HD 34C for a little over three years now. You will see that my rating of this razor is 5 stars and the tagline "Best shave I have ever had". I'll correct that now, because I like this 37C slant bar even better. I have generally refrained from buying a bevel razor simply because I've heard, read and internalized the tradition that a bevel razor is simply more aggressive than a straight razor. Now that I've shaved this razor about 10 times, I'm not sure
