Not like the photo - different laces.

Like everyone else, I got a version that was lace-up only with no velcro. Really surprised by the laces in size 11 shoes. My daughter was a size 9.5, before that there were elastic laces and velcro. She could put them on easily. I have a feeling that laces will be an issue, but there are very few hiking boot options for little girls.

Pros
  • stylish
Cons
  • While the Merrell Moab FST Mid waterproof hiking shoes are built to last, some buyers may find that they wear out quicker than expected, especially with frequent use or in harsh environments.

Runs small / short - my new review

My son wears 5.5 and I wear women 7.5 so our feet are the same size. I ordered 6 of these to give him some room to grow so they will last 6 months. He said they were fine so I tried them on and my big toe bumped the front of a boot with no socks. My ladies Merrell sneakers are size 7.5 and I have enough room for thick wool socks. Not sure if this pair didn't fit or ran small but I came back to buy him a larger size to keep him from outgrowing after a month. Total quality and comfort

Pros
  • Good Grip: These boots feature high-traction soles that are designed to grip the trail and provide excellent traction on a variety of surfaces. This is very important for hikers who may encounter uneven or slippery terrain.
Cons
  • Price

Non-supportive shoes

For adults who fit in children's shoes, there is absolutely no padding or arch support in these boots. From the moment I put them on I could tell they would be a nightmare to hike or walk around in.

Pros
  • Durability: Made from quality materials, these boots are built to withstand rugged terrain and frequent use. This is important for hikers who need a shoe that can withstand the rigors of the trail.
Cons
  • The Merrell Moab FST Mid waterproof hiking shoes are only available in one color and size, which may limit their appeal to a wider group of buyers.

Still best in my rating

I sprained my ankle with a normal running shoe. I needed something with support. It works well. It's good to walk on wet grass. Your feet won't get wet. The only negative comment is that they don't breathe like my other running shoes. My feet are hot and sweaty. Well, these aren't waterproof hiking boots that breathe.

Pros
  • The waterproof hiking shoes Merrell Moab FST Mid were developed to keep children's feet dry in all weathers. This is a great benefit for hikers who may encounter wet or rainy conditions while hiking.
Cons
  • The shoes I received are not the ones in the pictures. There is no velcro, just laces. Completely different shoes!

not waterproof in my rating.

After a few months of use, it's not waterproof at all. We were supplied with either a fake Merrill or a non-waterproof version. My daughter walked into a shallow stream and her socks were wet!

Pros
  • Love the fact that they are wide which is a really wide shoe. The fit is excellent and very comfortable.
Cons
  • I received the shoes with laces, not velcro and elastic laces as shown in the picture.

No Velcro, just laces, there was no box, just a plastic bag

Sent back after test drive - no box, just plastic bag for postage. The Merrells worked a lot better with the elastic laces and velcro at the ankle, they just have regular laces and my 8 year old takes a lot longer to put them on and off, also they were a dirty brown ugly color so we have them instead left the Merrells and brought them back. I love Prime Try on kids' shoe options, especially when their foot size changes so quickly.

Pros
  • The waterproof Moab FST Mid Waterproof hiking shoe has a relaxed fit that supports children's feet and keeps them comfortable on long hikes. This ensures that children have the energy and stamina to complete the hike without leg fatigue.
Cons
  • Limited Use: Designed specifically for hiking, these boots may not be suitable for other activities or everyday wear, which may make them less versatile than other shoe options.

not like the photo in my review

Like other reviewers - the boots only had laces which I would not have chosen. We needed them for the hike so we left them. My son complained of rubbing/pain in the rear ankle after about a mile. I hope your hack solves this problem.

Pros
  • These boots have put up many miles of rough terrain without chafing, chafing or falling apart! Highly recommended!
Cons
  • As with the previous reviewer, I also received the shoe with a drawstring closure instead of Velcro. Try again at Zappos. These will be returned.
