These protective edges are dangerous to use. The opening, made of hard, cheap plastic, is too narrow so I push my thumb against it when trying to insert the knife. Can't recommend and will immediately look for a better alternative.

This is a good blade guard, but depending on the blade shape, the cover may not cover the entire blade. The sharp end of my chef's knife gets stuck about an inch from the handle. However, it's not the fault of the product, it's my fault for not thinking about it before buying it.
