Same tools. New name. Hitachi power tools has renamed to Metabo HPT. Max no-load speed of 5,300 RPM allows for faster cutting. Reversible blades provide eight cutting edges and require fewer blade replacements. Protector plate attached under the main body of the tool protects the operator's hand from the cuttings. Externally accessible carbon brushes for easier maintenance. On-tool battery charge indicator monitors the status of the battery charge to reduce downtime. Soft grip handle for improved comfort and less fatigue.

Almost perfect

It cuts 18 stainless materials like butter. for 16 soft it really shouldn't be more than a 1/3 inch rough cut to allow the metal to twist or the thickness will snag it. Cuts very fast! Heated, but understandable given the engine size. Very happy with it, especially when compared to the price and footprint of comparable Beverly scissors.

Pros
  • Reversible knives have eight cutting edges and require fewer knife changes
Cons
  • No instructions

Without a doubt the best investment for any manufacturer

I have had one of these for 8 years and it is one of my most used power tools in the world. armory. It regularly cuts 18-gauge stainless steel, 16-gauge mild steel, and 14-gauge 5053 aluminum with the same blades that come with it. Without a doubt, this is the best investment a maker, locksmith or armorer can make for their business. Cuts pretty tight corners, I've gotten close to 1" in diameter on 18 gauge mild steel, but it's not easy. The metal twists under the guard, so wear gloves and trim

Pros
  • Externally accessible carbon brushes for easier maintenance
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
