I hope after 25 years of service it won't let me down like the previous model. lol I bought my first one when I was in high school. Over 30 years ago! It was little used at first until I started using it full time for the same job when I was 23. I'm 52 now and actually I still have it and it works great but the cable has started to snap. He is now retired but I am keeping him as a backup. I'll fix the cable one day. I bought a new one because I use it in the field, so I can't let it down whileโฆ
The machine itself looks and feels good, it's definitely powerful and a little lighter than the Makita, definitely and significantly lighter than other polishers like the Milwaukee 5460 (I hope so ) . as tough and durable as this Milwaukee). The only problem I find is the start, it's not soft at all, it goes from zero to around 7/800 rpm when the trigger is pulled first then it goes down to 600 (within the next second) , so the launch produces a short, but a sharp jerk with every first pull ofโฆ
I bought this buffer for waxing and polishing fiberglass boats. It's lightweight at 6.2 lbs. and has enough power and speed for many purposes. It has a 'slow start', which is useful when used at higher rpm, but it picks up speed too quickly so you feel a slight burst of torque when it hits full speed. However, this is not a problem as it is a common feature of many such buffers. I was hoping it would come with a side handle as well as a loop handle which can get in the way when working in tight
