Solid wire harness to fit car electronic accessories

I used this wire harness on my '93 Ford Explorer when I installed an aftermarket head unit. The main power connector was of good quality, however the connector was a bit finicky compared to the 4x RCA. The wires inside were difficult to line up with the other connector on the machine, a toothpick was used to get the wires in place. Once plugged in, it worked fantastic.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Not the best but only choice for factory amp installation

The factory amp plug (square black plug) is terrible. The pins don't match, easy to bend, you can't easily attach them. Look on YouTube, people have the same problem there. Plastic modification required. PS if you have a 460 system this harness is for the bottom speakers ONLY, not the tweeters. You should also get another set of dishes and use a wide black fork.

Everything is working fine now, it just took longer than it should.

8 pin to RCA speaker adapter turned out to be useless. The RCA connectors didn't fit properly and the 8-pin connector fell apart trying to install. I ended up cutting off the speaker connector coming from the car to reveal the wires and then used the speaker wires from another part of this product to connect my radio unit. Everything works fine now, it just took longer than it should (and half of this product was unused and was a waste of time and money).

  • Wow

Great Value - Car Electronics Accessory

Used this wiring harness to replace the radio/cassette deck in my 1989 Lincoln Town Car. Warning: This harness will ONLY work with Ford products that have a "Premium Sound" system with an external factory amplifier. It was very easy to connect (color codes are on the box). It took me less than 10 minutes to connect and it worked. If you are thinking of replacing your factory radio this product is a must have. MUCH easier than cutting and splicing wires!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Not reliable

1999 Mustang GT with Mach 460 Sound System

Probably the worst suspension on the market. The black wire harness that connects to the speakers will not fit because the pins are misaligned. Save yourself the hassle and buy the metra 70-5511 harness. The only difference is that you have to connect the speaker wires to the wire harness, whereas in this case it's just a phono plug. It's still easier than trying to attach the speaker wire harness correctly. Also, if you have a Mach 460 sound system, put a 1k ohm resistor between the blue andโ€ฆ

Pins too small in cars and vehicle electronics

The black plug for the amplifier plug is absolute scrap. The pins are too small to make full contact with the connectors on the car wiring harness. It took over an hour of fiddling to get each speaker working, only after having to re-solder a wire to attach it to this bundle. Eventually I could only insert the wire harness halfway into this connector, I had to tape it to keep it from moving and hang all the wire off the dash because every time I plugged in the radio a speaker would be totallyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Components included: AUTO_PART, car accessories, lighting/electrics, car electrics Wiring harnesses

good harness suitable for automotive and automotive electronics

Fits perfectly with my 2000 Mustang with Mach 460. All plugged in and connected as expected, really not that difficult. The only weird thing was that the RCA cables didn't show the front and back. There are four RCAs. Two left and two right. In a Mustang audio system, this is actually a mono signal, so it doesn't matter. I was quite surprised about that a little bit. There really isn't much in this product, you can't go wrong. If you have a Mach sound system like me, you'll need a 12v to 5vโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 4 RCA plugs to connect to aftermarket radio preamp outputs
Cons
  • Some issues

tired me for automotive and automotive electronics

I have a 1995 Ford F250 XLT and a stock single din radio cd player which was the best at the time, what you were able to order it arrived on time and has also been used in Mustang I ordered these plugs (3 different ones from Metra) thinking I could connect a Sony digital FM player to the FM Seems so easy I have basically leveled after 3 months. It's all an effort. There isn't enough information from Metra or the sellers of these products whose products don't match the color of the cablesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 12" long harness to integrate factory amps for some Ford vehicles
Cons
  • High price

Poor quality 8 pin black connector

The black 8 pin connector is faulty in design. The connector's plastic housing does not hold the pins securely and does not align the pins in the required pitch. If you plug this connector into your car's mating connector, the pins will most likely bend and not go in and out the back of the connector. I would recommend cutting off both the car's black connector and mating connector and soldering the wires together, or using an alternative pair of 8-pin connectors (probably Molex) or connectingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Compatible with some 1986-2000 Ford vehicles
Cons
  • Socket required
