97 Ford OBS Truck on Car & Vehicle Electronics

Fits 97 F-350 OBS with premium sound. This worked fine except the orange backlight wire was in the wrong socket. I had to move it one slot to the left (as pictured) to get it next to the red wire. This wire dims the light on the receiver when the headlights are on. Also Amazon said it wouldn't work with my truck but it did after I moved the orange cable. I went to Walmart and O'Reilly's advertising auto parts and no one had the right seat belt. So I was happy to have this one.

Pros
  • Package Height: 1.778 cm
Cons
  • Low

Easy installation. Good documentation.

It took us a while to identify the correct part but once we did we ordered it and our radio was installed in about 10 minutes. No trouble. no trouble. We used wire nuts instead of soldering. There are many reliable and weather resistant products that can be installed by hand instead of soldering. Ultimately, the diagram on the box turned out to be more accurate than the repair guide we had. I just wish all this "preamp vs amp" bullshit was clearer so it would be easier for us to figure it out.

Pros
  • Country of Origin: China
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Worked great! suitable for car AV installation

My '99 Mustang came with an audio system with two boxes - tape recorder/radio unit (master) and CD player (slave). I took both out and installed a new secondary player using this harness adapter. After I removed all the wires from the master to the slave, there were two adapters in the car that easily connected to the two adapters that came with it. Product. These adapter cables can be easily soldered to player cables with standard color codes. Adapters are a bit cheap so care must be taken not

Pros
  • Packaging width: 12.192 cm
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

Installed in a 1995 Mustang GT, no Mach upgrade

It worked great in a Mustang, although Revain's website says it won't fit a 1995 Mustang. The Mustang has a power amp under the CD player that is separate from the radio and cassette players. After installation, the speakers on the right side did not work. Metra told me that some new head units don't work properly with older amps. I tested the amp by reinstalling the old blocks and they correctly drove the existing amp. I ordered a Metra 70-5513 radio wire harness for a Ford amp rectifier…

Pros
  • Connects to the car's power harness and preamp
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Metra Wiring Harness

I bought this wiring harness to simplify the installation of a new Kenwood radio/CD player in my Ford car. Aside from a slight inconsistency in the wire color chart in the manuals and tech support not quite understanding my question, I recommend the Metra product because it matches the factory harness and is fairly well made. I was able to figure out the wire I needed to connect the amp's trigger wire. On a Ford with an external "Premium Sound" amplifier like mine, it's usually the blue/white…
