Great for 93 Lincoln Town Car

This worked great for me, I've read other reviews where people had problems with the small square speaker plug, I've had no problems with it. For me, the fork fit perfectly in a '93 Town Car. I would order this again

Pros
  • Components Included: Wiring Harness
Cons
  • Can't remember

After a small adjustment of the pins everything worked.

Just installed today, like other reviews, the small connector for the speaker inputs didn't want to go in properly. All I did to get it working properly was tweak the pins a bit with a screwdriver and it worked like a charm. The plugs are secure and fit like they came from the factory.

Pros
  • Fits Ford models
Cons
  • Crumpled

Will Not Bypass All Ford Premium Audio Amplifiers

This wiring harness will NOT bypass the premium audio amplifier in the 1995 Ford E-150. The wiring harness will mate with the standard in-dash radio harness and will facilitate the installation of an aftermarket stereo . I just want the bypass to fit so I can rule out another component that could be failing.

Pros
  • Product Type: PET_SUPPLIES
Cons
  • Not All Will Fit

Small black crockery.

Amplifier Bypass Cable works like a charm. And the radio too. But the little black wire harness that connects to your speakers is just a waste of wire and plastic. DO NOT USE THIS. The pins are misaligned and it will never work. I tried installing this in my '93 Lincoln Town car and only half the speakers played sound.

Pros
  • Connects to Car Wiring Harness, Amp Wiring Harness and Speaker Inputs
Cons
  • Protection

Used this to install a new Pioneer CD player in '98.

Used to install a new Pioneer CD player in a '98 Mustang. I had a factory cassette player and a separate CD player with a factory amp. I bypassed all of that but left the factory CD player there so I didn't have an open hole. The amp's bypass connector only fit one end of the jack, the other end didn't fit either of the factory plugs, so I cut the other end off and attached a spoked cable to it to bypass the factory amp.

Pros
  • Ford Premium Sound System Amplifier System
Cons
  • Repair

Square black speaker wire connector does not fit

I bought this wire harness to bypass the premium audio amplifier on my 1994 Ford F150. The square pins of the connector do not match and will not match the OEM connector. I even cut off the connector hoping that would work, it's just that the pins aren't set up properly. Terrible quality assurance from METRA and poor design. After standing on my head under the dash in a 15-minute job, it became a feast of swearing, not to mention a pain in the ass. Don't waste money.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Poorly designed car audio and video system

Square 8 pin amplifier input connector stinks. The mechanical case is so poorly designed that there is a 50/50 chance that the pins will connect properly. I could only get one bank of speakers to work at a time. Metra Engineering has failed in its task of correctly classifying these cheap parts. Shame on you. It is only needed if you want to use the factory amp. If you want to bypass the amp, the bypass harness will not work with Premium 96 F-150 stereo applications. You should cut it in halfโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Something different

Partially good, please read

Well, first of all I have mixed reviews. want to explain. First an adapter to bypass the amplifier. This part of the kit is fine, you unplug the amp, plug in the bypass harness and you're done. The connectors are solid, the pins are aligned and make good contact. The connector for the power wiring to the head unit in the dashboard is also OK. Now let's move on to the speaker wiring adapter that connects to the wiring harness in the dash. It's the square black connector in the upper-left cornerโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Try for a year
Cons
  • Only available in white
