🚗 Metra 99-7897 Single DIN Installation Kit: Perfect Fit for 2001-2005 Honda Civic Vehicles Review

Matches my 2001 Civic DX quite well. My stereo is a little further into the dash than I would like, but it works and looks good. As one reviewer said, the white plastic part is quite brittle and mine was already broken when I received it. With the defective part it still works perfectly. But don't expect great quality.

Purchased to save on an OEM storage bag. The more common Metra kit replaces the work bag with an open back bag. It took me a while to put it back in place and it still doesn't look seamless, but no bezel fits perfectly like the factory one. For the 7th Gen Civic, this was the best option I found. Can be improved with a stiffer support element. Possibly hard plastic.

You were right about the tabs, previous reviews mentioned how fragile they can be. It was easier to assemble it at the radio and then plug everything into the console. It seemed easier to me. At first glance, you won't notice the color/stain difference unless you're really looking for it. All in all, I preferred the drawer to the opening. See images above. The kit worked great. My plastic retainer was white (not black like in the photo) but it's still not visible after assembly. Looks very good, had to leave the warehouse door and tray. Also, there is no need to buy a double din kit (like other people at Revain seem to have) to use this. All you need is this turbo kit, a few tools and an hour or two to get half your cabin out to get to the 2 screws holding the radio unit.

Glad this single din model is available as I wanted to keep the wonderful original hinged door storage compartment - nice and tidy. The white plastic bit is flimsy as others have pointed out. I chose this kit for my 2002 Civic LX Sedan because I wanted to keep the compartment under the stock radio. Given that this is for a multitude of years, the guidance isn't very good. I would google your specific year model for installation instructions. The texture and color of this trim matched the stock dash fairly well, and the included trim fitted perfectly with no noticeable gaps. Bought for my brother's 2004 Hybrid Civic which I installed a Pioneer DEH head unit in. It takes a bit of work to get it to fit, but a good fit is what you want. I only marked it with an asterisk because there are no color options (the dash is silver/light gray and this piece is black). Also, it's great and I would recommend buying it if you're installing an aftermarket stereo and want it to fit well. I recommend removing the storage bag before installing the stereo and replacing it afterwards.
