Metra GMOS OnStar Interface Systems Review

I spent extra time soldering each connection so my install took a bit longer. Other than that, this kit worked well for my application. I have a 2004 Chevy Avalanche, unfortunately I did not purchase a matching steering wheel control kit. If you're on the same machine as me, please don't repeat my mistake. The kit I am reviewing had everything that was advertised and worked well. I would use this brand again and happily do so.

Compared to PAC, that's 5 stars. But it's still garbage. The PAC call sounds awful. The "give me my money back you idiots" kind of thing is awful. The doorbell goes through the speakers, not the 25 cent speaker that comes with the PAC. PAC straps are very loose and will fall out and make a hissing noise. These are better. Installed directly on a GMC6 Envoy 200 by a friend. However, after installation, the sound quality was terrible. It sounded distorted and hoarse. I checked all my connections and they looked ok. I ended up running a +/- wire from one of the 4 speakers, bypassing the box it comes in. I was trying to connect my Pioneer aftermarket stereo to my 2006 Chevy Silverado with no interface (cheap). Switch on with the red-brown AC cable. I would not recommend this kit for beginners as it is quite confusing and because it is so versatile it is difficult to figure out what to connect for YOUR car and vehicle (even more confusing if you have steering wheel controls). Why is this about Pac Audio RadioPro 5 (RP5-GM11)? Because the RP5-GM11 can produce very noticeable hiss and hiss in your speakers. GMOS can fix this problem by reducing gain.
