The big tooth is good for drawing, drawing and art supplies

I bought a bunch of paper at the same time, looking for black paper to work with pastel and white charcoal. This is the ONLY one that had enough teeth to really grab the materials. Not Strathmore. Not US Art Supply. Cute! I have attached a small 20 minute sketch that I made and titled "Self-Portrait in the Dark".

Try colored pencils

This is my second work with this paper. However, I would not recommend it for pastel colors. It does not take chalk layers well. Chalk dissolved more than melted. I saw a video where Lisa von Lachry drew on it with colored pencils. Second option: while it seems that the pen is taken very lightly. Like removing more pigment with less effort.

Best Crayon Paper

This paper has a different texture on each side. I use the "smoother" side for colored pencils and this is the best paper I've found. Depending on the pressure, it easily absorbs several layers of paint. I get so much depth and color with this paper. With some other papers I've used, I've had issues with the paper actually falling apart when trying to apply multiple coats/blends - and we're not talking cheap paper here. I just wish this paper wasn't so expensive for such a small price - the…

Good paper - each part has its own shade of gray!

Excellent paper for oil pastels. I like the "toughness" of the paper that allows it to adhere to multiple layers of paint. The paper is thicker and I like it. No deformation! The pillow has approx. 8 different shades of grey. From the back cover to the very first page, the colors fade from light to dark. The light is furthest away and the dark is the very first page when it is opened. The different shades of gray confused me at first as I thought it was the same shade of grey. At first I was…

Poor pastel paper

I will not buy this paper again. I'm a little beginner, although I used to work very successfully with my old Grumbacher pastels. I worked very hard on this portrait but found that the pastels kept falling off and the blacks kept showing through. The bottom half, the jacket, was a little better because it was the last piece I took over (I wonder why) and by that point I had sprayed it with working fixative. Then I made another portrait on paper - same thing. When trying to determine if it was…

  • Two-sided: one side is heavier, the other is lighter
