Not a drop of grease

Good derailleur but requires disassembly of idler pulleys and lubrication of roller bearings before installation. The derailleur barely made it through the 36T gearing.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Working but not for 40 ton cassette

Easy installation on 90's refurbished MTB. Looks good and shifts well with the handlebar end shifter. However, he couldn't handle a 40-ton cassette, he thought he could.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Great switch! for parts and components

I have a 2010 Trek 4500 mountain bike that I didn't want to invest too much money in. I converted it to 1x9 and replaced the worn Shimano bearing with a Microshift and it's just as good if not better. All for $20!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Exchange availability

Discount Rear Derailleur Suitable for Parts & Components

This rear derailleur is easy to like. The cage easily accommodated the 36T rear sprocket. Setting up with the Shimano levers was easy and changes went smoothly. It feels reliable and while you may eventually want to replace the idlers, for the money this is a steal.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Protection

Great rear derailleur

I had to replace a damaged Shimano Acera rear derailleur but it has been discontinued. I didn't want to spend much so I decided to try this one. He exceeded my expectations! Looks great and shifts as well as Shimano if not better.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Crumpled

Nice 9 speed derailleur replaces old Deore LX

Nothing is more frustrating than trying to adjust old derailleurs and after a few hours of adjusting the cable tension, limit screws and bolt I gave up. Took this RD, installed and got through in under 10 minutes. It's nice to give an old bike a new life.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Appearance

Works with Shimano travel derailleurs

Works with travel derailleurs. I asked this question but I don't see it so I'm answering here. I have an older 105 9 speed cross bike and just mounted it on a stand. In addition, this switch has a long range. I use conservatively 34t for downshifting and I think this derailleur will rock at 40t and probably/maybe work with 10 gears. I don't have anything with 10 speeds at the moment so I can't confirm or deny that this would work, but then again I think you could make 40t 10 speeds out of it. 5

Pros
  • Ideal for small households
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
