Get one! Notebook Accessories

This is a must have if you own a Surface 3. And it's a good deal since it usually costs $200. Note that this does NOT apply to Pro 3, Pro 4, Surface RT or Surface 2. However, you can easily connect multiple USB devices, a regular monitor, wired Ethernet, and a more powerful charger. Even though you can't. Judging by the picture, the docking is done with the ends spread, inserting the Surface 3, and the ends closed since it uses the Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 connectors. It has two USB 3.0…

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • No form required

I just jumped on the Surface bandwagon when I found the new Surface 3 at a good price. At the current price of a docking station, this is a must. Dramatically improves the power consumption of the device by adding all the extra ports and helps it stand more firmly on the table when needed. The tablet quickly fits into this thing by simply sliding out the 2 sliding sides, lowering the tablet and closing it again. Another added benefit is that it charges your Surface faster than a portable…

If you have a Microsoft Surface 3 and not a Pro, why didn't you spend money on it? Only $15?!?!?!? This is a well-designed docking station with 4 additional USB ports, Ethernet port, mini display port, headphone jack, Kensington lock. It charges the tablet and keeps it in the right position. I have a Logitech keyboard instead of a Microsoft Surface keyboard. It works fantastic. It even holds your pen to the surface with a magnet. This is a well built dock. This turns the Surface 3 into a…

Why not for $15? for computers and accessories

I don't know why it's so cheap now but why not for $15? It's about what you would pay for a decent quality hub or something. Instead, you get enhanced USB without sacrificing DisplayPort, and you also provide an Ethernet port. In fact, it can turn your Surface 3 into a decent workstation as described. The docking station is heavy, durable, plastic is comfortable to the touch. Feels like premium. It's top-of-the-line, but given that it's showing its age and only applies to one model in the…

USB connection not working

EDIT #3 (10/17/2019): I got my third replacement and it has ANOTHER bug. It doesn't match the ports. At this point, it's probably safe to say that all Surface 3 docks are buggy. Guess I'll have to use the micro USB connector 😒 EDIT #2 (10/12/2019): After 7 days of diligent use of this dock, it has decided to stop working. The indicator on the side of the dock doesn't light up when I plug it in. How unlucky am I that I received two duds? Another replacement is currently being requested. EDIT…

At this price you should get it!

WOW! I didn't really believe it until I received the item yesterday. If you have a Surface 3, this is a must have. I've been using Surface 3 (Mon-Fri) at work for 3 years. I also have a more powerful laptop that I use as my desktop computer at home, but I needed something portable and slim without the added expense. And the Surface 3 fills the bill. But sometimes I also use the Surface 3 as a desktop at home, so I need its dock. But when it came out, I couldn't justify buying it - too expensive

Pros
  • Gigabit Ethernet port
Cons
  • Doubtful

Big, heavy and chunky but solved my $30 charging problem for Surface 3

Dock works fine most of the time. I've had it for less than a week and just noticed that when you unplug the power cord the USB port is disabled and you can't use the port. It annoys me, but it's not the end of the world. I have no idea why other reviewers say you need a dock. I owned my hated Surface 3 for about a year and the only reason I had to buy a dock was because I was having trouble charging my computer. The genius who "helped" me at the local Microsoft store figured out why charging…

My relationship with my Surface saved!

In the preface to this review, I have to say that it was heavily influenced by the fact that it is now available at such a big discount from the original $200 list price. I didn't buy it at that price when I bought my Surface; In fact, I only bought it now because it was even cheaper than the original charger I originally planned to buy. But back to the rating. After a long life as a main laptop, I considered throwing away my Surface because charging was so unreliable that I put it down to…

Sounds too good to be true.

I have a Microsoft Surface 3. This was my work computer and it came with a keyboard case; I decided to keep it because I liked it and the acquisition cost was ridiculously low. That's why I scored with this docking station; because the price was a ridiculously low $18.00. But somewhere in the back of my mind I heard a voice: It sounds too good to be true. EDIT: And if it sounds too good to be true, it usually isn't. Such is the case with this docking station. After FIVE MONTHS of *extremely…
