💻 Microsoft Surface Studio 1st Generation - i5, 8GB RAM, 1TB Storage Review

I like this machine. Sometimes Photoshop or Illustrator chokes, which is a shame but overall functional and practical. The i7 is a bit quieter but might be worth it for video editing. 3 weeks after I bought this device, the card reader failed. It was a disappointment.

In general, the device is well assembled, the internals are of very poor quality. It's like they took parts from a cheap laptop and paired it with a high-end touchscreen monitor. The device is overpriced, and when the Surface Studio 2 came out a few months later, Microsoft didn't even offer a trade-in for my device. I wouldn't recommend buying it as there are cheaper devices (Dell Canvas 27) that can do the same but plug into your computer.

A productivity monster for photo editing. Just make sure you're using fast external drives so you can maintain your monitor's dedicated speed and not process files on slow devices. I believe this may be a problem that others are having. I have listed the sRGB and Adobe RGB color space to match my Spyder. 5,100% sRGB and 89% Adobe RGB, pretty damn impressive!

Very powerful unique computer. With a large, clear screen and a fairly accurate stylus, the drawing process is just great. Unfortunately, the built-in hard drive is very slow, but this can easily be remedied by installing an SSD. Pen Accuracy: Surface Studio 1 has an issue with pen wobble. When you try to draw a drawing, your lines will be blurry even if you use a ruler. This jitter is visible when drawing at normal speed. This item is mixed. When it works, it's pretty nice. -downs where even rebooting becomes an alarmingly disturbing LONG process. It just sits and spins. It will auto-recover until it throws an error and restarts, only to repeat again. A nightmare. The touchscreen works great and the screen looks fantastic. The screen is beautiful. So many ways to create and interact with the computer. I really like Surface Studio. Great value for a computer considering the entry price. New computer.
